Blackberry Gin Cocktail With Lavender Syrup

This floral gin cocktail with lavender syrup and fresh blackberries makes the perfect spring or summer cocktail.

Ingredients
 

  • 3-4 blackberries
  • ½ oz (15 ml) lavender simple syrup
  • ½ oz (15 ml) lemon juice
  • 1 ½ oz (45 ml) gin
  • Crushed ice
  • 3 oz (90 ml) Indian tonic water

Instructions
 

  • Add the blackberries, lavender syrup and lemon juice to a cocktail glass. Muddle until the blackberries release their juices.
  • Pour in the gin and give it a good stir with a spoon.
  • Fill the glass with crushed ice and top it off with tonic water.
  • Garnish with a sprig of lavender for a floral touch.

Notes

  1. You can also make your own lavender syrup using culinary-grade lavender and following this simple recipe.
  2. This Agroposta lavender syrup is my absolute favorite and the one I used for this recipe. They ship to several countries in the EU.
  3. A little lavender syrup goes a long way. If in doubt, rather add less than more.
  4. I use Hendrick's gin for this recipe.
  5. To make this cocktail for a crowd, add the blackberries, lemon juice, lavender syrup and gin to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth and strain out the blackberry seeds if desired. Transfer the mixture into a cocktail pitcher and set it in the refrigerator to cool. Top it with sparkling water right before serving.
